Preserving Islamic Heritage & Building Futures
Who We Are
Founded to serve the Muslim community, Madrasah Islamiah is rooted in a rich Islamic-education mission that continues to empower generations. We are committed to Qur’anic studies, nurturing Islamic values through experienced scholars. Our curriculum emphasizes memorization, tafsir, and authentic Islamic publications. As a respected Islamic learning center, we proudly represent the Islamic tradition in the heart of Texas.
Our Foundation
All praise be to Allah, and Salat and Salam be upon Rasulullah ﷺ. Allah Ta‘ala sent Rasulullah ﷺ to all mankind with four fundamental purposes:
Our Story
Considering the sensitivity of this serious need — depending on Allah Ta‘ala, with the du‘a and mashwarah of illustrious scholars — Hafiz Muhammad Iqbal sahib (student of Hazrat Maulana Yousuf Bennuri rah.) established Madrasah Islamiah (previously Masjid Noor). In 1989 an old child-care building was rented; the property was purchased in 1990 and remodeled in 1991 into a prayer hall accommodating nearly 850 people, with a sisters’ section, administration unit, classrooms, library, book store and cafeteria.
Madrasah Islamiah takes pride in being the first madrasah for Tahfeezul Qur’an al-Kareem in Houston, producing more than 100 huffaz — many now imams in Houston’s masajid or completing their ‘Alim course in Darul Ulooms worldwide.
Our Mission
The sacred mission of Madrasah Islamiah rests upon four guiding principles.
Ihsan & Suluk — instilling rooted taqwa of Allah and a profound love for Rasulullah ﷺ.
Taleem & Rusookh fil-‘Ilm — long-term Islamic education alongside academics in a pure Islamic environment, toward a comprehensive understanding of Qur’an and Sunnah.
Tarbiyah & Taqweem al-Akhlaq — dedicated, qualified shuyukh nurturing each student toward the moral and social character of the Sahabah رضي الله عنهم.
Da‘wah & Ihsan to the Creation of Allah — education intended for ma‘rifat of Allah, practice, and spreading the deen — training students in da‘wah.
Serving the Community
Alhamdulillah, Madrasah Islamiah has produced more than one hundred huffaz between 1990 and 2016 — most of the huffaz leading taraweeh across Houston’s masajid graduated here. The Madrasah has also sponsored highly qualified scholars to Houston who serve the deen across the United States:
Islamic Publications
The Madrasah has published many books in various languages, most by Hafiz Muhammad Iqbal sahib.
Support Us
It is our humble appeal to all community members to donate generously to support Madrasah Islamiah’s operations. May Allah reward you all. Jazak Allah Khair.
